“Seniors have been one of my top priorities since I first entered the Legislature in October 2014. Too many older adults in our state face significant challenges—from affordability concerns, to protection from scams and fraud, to managing the rising cost of living, as well as maintaining their health and overall well-being.
Working together, the Legislature and the Governor have made substantial progress in addressing these needs. The new StayNJ program will provide meaningful property tax relief so seniors can enjoy their well-earned retirement here in New Jersey without feeling forced to relocate. In addition, we have strengthened and protected PAAD and Senior Gold, two essential programs that help seniors afford their prescriptions and maintain their independence.
We have also advanced the ANCHOR program, which I was proud to sponsor. ANCHOR delivers direct property tax relief—including for seniors—and, as of this writing, two rounds of checks have already gone out, helping make New Jersey more affordable for thousands of households.
On my end, I have continued to introduce legislation that keeps senior issues at the forefront. One such bill increases the personal needs allowance for seniors living in nursing homes to $100 per month, ensuring they have more financial flexibility and dignity in their daily lives.
I will always stand with our seniors. They cared for us when we needed it most; now it is our responsibility to support them and ensure their retirement years are healthy, secure, and fulfilling.”
