What is Project Backpack?

Each year I coordinate a backpack drive during the summer months to help families in in need attain backpacks and supplies for their children in the upcoming school year. Partnership and contribution from the public of Legislative District 17 has continued to raise awareness to help children reach their full potential to kick off the school year with their new backpack and supplies. As an assemblyman of the 17th Legislative District, I aim to aid the students of Franklin, South Bound Brook, New Brunswick, North Brunswick, and Piscataway.

Furthermore, not only do we target our school districts, but organizations alike can call in for backpacks for their children in need. Right before the 2020-21 school year started, we distributed almost 1,000 backpacks with supplies to students across our community and this was all made possible by the assistance and support of our local businesses, residents, social and educational organizations!
